    Research on Calibration Method of Static Fiber Optic Gyroscope North Finder

    • The static fiber optic gyroscope north finder based on Sagnac effect has been widely used in the navigation field due to its advantages of simple structure, small size, lightweight, long lifespan, and low cost. At present, there is no corresponding calibration specification or national standard for the metrological characteristics of static fiber optic gyroscope north finders in China. In order to meet the accuracy and stability requirements of static fiber optic gyroscope north finders in navigation and positioning, a calibration method was designed for a typical static fiber optic gyroscope north finder and tested. This experiment evaluated the performance of a static fiber optic gyroscope north finder in terms of measurement errors of heading angle, roll angle, pitch angle, and north finding accuracy. The results show that the instrument has measurement errors within ± 0.05° for heading angle, roll angle, and pitch angle. The absolute north finding accuracy measured using the two position north finding scheme is less than ± 0.001°, the north finding repeatability (expressed as standard deviation) is less than 0.03°, and the linearity of the north finding circumference is less than 0.2°. The experimental results show that this method can meet the actual calibration requirements of static fiber optic gyroscope north finders, provide data support for the formulation of future relevant specifications, lay the foundation for the study of metrological performance parameters of static fiber optic gyroscope north finders, and have important practical significance for improving navigation and positioning accuracy in related fields.
